1 – Practice focusing your attention on a task you enjoy each day
One way to recognize and awaken your spiritual gifts is to focus your attention on something you love for an hour each day.
Spiritual gifts are talents that you have that are meant to bring joy. Repeatedly stepping into the flow of focused intent, lovingly completing a task you enjoy, can help you identify if You use your talent with pleasure.
By focusing your attention on a task you enjoy, you are intentionally practicing using your talents in a craft that could be a spiritual gift.
The more often you do this, the easier it is to identify your talent, and the more likely it is that you’ll overlap with someone else in the process, allowing you to share your gifts with them.
2 – Listen to your inner voice with meditation
When you meditate, you practice calming your energy to a point where your thoughts slow, your emotions balance, and your mind is calm.
As your mind dwells in meditation, thoughts, feelings, or ideas may surface that were previously buried under the day’s other impressions.
By identifying the ideas, thoughts and images that enter your mind and heart after your energy field is calmed, you listen to your inner voice.
How does your voice “speak” to you here? The answer to this could be an indication of what intuitive gift you have, how you get insight.
What information emerges after you are centered by the meditation?
This insight could be a spiritual clue as to how to use your gift on earth, which may indicate what your spiritual gift is, especially if the insights that emerge are similar over time.
3 – Revisiting your old dreams
Do you have a list of unfinished drafts in your Google Docs? A box of old projects you completed during high school? Some vintage emails with long-lost business plans? What is hiding in the contents of your attic?
Take stock of past ideas, objects, and “drawing board concepts” that have been tucked away. Taking a physical or digital inventory of the past can bring to light repressed spiritual gifts and abilities.
Some spiritual gifts and talents may be hidden in old dreams because they are part of our true selves that we sometimes hide from others.
4 – Identify what is easy for you but difficult for others
What feels simple and easy to you, but difficult for other people to understand?
You can tell this when others compliment you on what has impressed them about you. It can also be identified by noticing a theme in the job roles you have been constantly hired for.
What is easy for you can be something nerdy and complicated, or it can be something you assume “everyone knows”.
It can also be something you see as “just for fun,” but when you present it to others, the subject goes right over their heads.
Concepts, activities and ventures that are easy for you without effort can be a spiritual gift.
