Understand your daily focus
There are a few ways we group signs in astrology. The most popular and well-known is probably along elementary lines. We have the fire signs, water signs, air signs and earth signs. These elements give us clues as to the role played by these characters. But they are not interchangeable, and they connect to each other in other ways as well. We can also look at the signs seasonally, the summer fire sign differs from the winter fire sign in key ways. There is also the modality, which I think is as important as the elementary classifications. Modality refers to the sign’s variability and is based on its position in the sky during a particular season. There are three types of modalities with four characters in each category.
In this week’s daily focus I want to look at both the elementary connections of the signs and their compatible modality. I urge you to look up your complete natal chart so you can see where you have all of these elements and modalities. You’ll probably be surprised at what you find and the connections you make.

Saturday March 26th

The fire signs are known as the wild cards of the zodiac. You are impulsive, passionate, volatile and attractive. Aries, the baby of the zodiac, is known for passion. Leo is known for being the center of attention and putting on a show, and Sagittarius is known for being an adventurer who can’t sit still. All fire signs like to explore, try new things and keep moving.
Sunday March 27th
“Water signs include Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. Water signs are known to be emotional, loving, sneaky, sensitive, and creative. They are both great caretakers and masters behind the scenes. They can be as cunning as they are caring. Water signs are social by nature and work best when they have someone to connect with.”
People with a lot of water in their chart tend to have deep feelers. If you have multiple watermark placements, chances are you are someone that people come to for emotional support. It could also manifest as a craving for romantic love, the spectacle that knocks you off your feet, especially when your Moon or Venus is in a water sign.
Monday, March 28th
“Air signs include Aquarius, Gemini and Libra. They are known to be curious, non-judgmental, social, and easy-going. They are good for science, scholarship, philosophy and public speaking. They connect best with a world they can dissect and explore.”
Air signs are easygoing, but they can come across as flippant or scaly at times. It’s always good to have a mix of characters on your chart. Air placements can add lightness to water placements, and fire placements can add spark and passion to air placements. It’s good to look at how your rankings affect each other and what they mean on their own.
Tuesday, March 29th
“The earth signs include Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo. You are known to be grounded, serious, hardworking and stoic. They are strong leaders, organizers and can bring about change through their ambition.”
Earth signs are the sturdiest of the group. They are very practical leaders and partners. Too much earth in a horoscope can make someone a little pedantic and narrow minded, but mixed with air, fire or even water you get the will to pursue other intellectual, creative or emotional pursuits.
Wednesday March 30th
“Fixed Sings include Aquarius, Leo, Taurus and Scorpio. As the name suggests, the fixed characters are quite stubborn. They are the signs who like things a certain way. They are less spontaneous and more traditional than their elemental counterparts.”
Not all characters within an element are the same. Leo is very different from Aries and Aquarius from Gemini. The fixed zodiac signs will be more likely to settle down, put down roots and want to be partners. Both Aquarius and Leo are attracted to the world at large, but more than their elemental counterparts, they want to feel secure. Both Taurus and Scorpio are the most grounded of their elements – the most likely to get stuck in their ways.
Thursday March 31st
“The mutable signs are Sagittarius, Gemini, Pisces, and Virgo. They are the most flexible and imaginative of the signs, often good at bridging gaps by connecting people. Compared to their elemental counterparts, they are naturally easygoing.”
Mutable signs are relaxed, they like to follow, make connections and keep the peace. While Virgos may be rigid in their ideas and morals, they are willing to bend and conform in most situations that are not directly about themselves. Internal changes, however, are a different story for earth signs. Gemini, Pisces, and Sagittarius are often considered the most social signs, easily darting between groups and people, constantly adapting as they go. Mutable signs can change their personalities depending on who they are with.
Friday April 1st
“Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Cardinal signs are leaders, they are the signs that take the initiative. They are most likely to implement their ideas and manifest their own realities. They are more action-oriented than their elemental counterparts.”
Less rigid than the fixed signs but less flexible than the mutable ones, the cardinal signs are best at spreading strong ideas, pointing others in the right direction, and keeping things on track. These are the zodiac signs who are best at leading, driven by ambition, and have a level head about their goals.
